Porters with Hogshead, Brazil, 1816-1831

This illustration shows a group of eight men, dressed in various clothing styles, carrying a large hogshead slung from poles on their shoulders. The engravings in this book were taken from drawings made by Debret during his residence in Brazil from 1816 to 1831. See also, image kidder3 which is derived from the one shown here.
